Good Software Developers

Found this nugget on MSDN Blogs yesterday where Eldar Musayev blogs about his thoughts on being a good software developer:

Random Thoughts and Hints on Software Development

The article does a nice of summarizing what I am trying to infuse onto the developers in my training sessions. One particular section touched on learning, here's an excerpt:

"This is a profession where you have to learn, learn, learn without any breaks forever."

I can't say enough about the above statement. If I want to be a good software developer, I need to stay on top or ahead of trends and technology. I do this by reading blogs, books, websites, examples, etc. There's no slowing down, as it is a constant battle of trying to stay on top of the wave (think of surfing) because if you don't you will wash out and could drown if you are not careful.
