I ran across this article while browsing on Lifehacker.com posted on The Retrospector.com entitled: Top 10 Ways to Motivate Geeks. Wow, this list certainly describes the things that motivate me!
While I won't detail each of the top 10, I will say that I am fortunate to work for a company that provides me with the proper level of motivation - of course, it is human nature to always want more, however. Having the right level of motivation certainly helps me come to work early every day, sometimes leave late, and do work when I get home. If I am not learning and growing in the areas that I want to grow in, then I certainly would not be motivated to spend the time I do working.
